Third-3rd Grade, Fourth-4th Grade and Fifth-5th Grade Smart Board Interactive Reading ELA Writing Games, Activities and Lessons




Teachers and students can use these Smart Board games, activities and lessons to learn about Reading ELA in Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade. Some of the topics covered are: Comprehension, Author’s Purpose, Fact and Opinion, Main Idea, Story Elements, Vocabulary, Grammar

Students link prefixes and suffixes to their meaning in “Short Circuit.” – Students click the switches to indicate the meaning of various suffixes and prefixes. The graphic in the middle indicates whether or not you “completed the circuit.”

Expand student vocbulary with Alphabet Organizer – Students can use this tool to easily make ABC books by typing in the words and related notes for each letter of the alphabet. When all letters are completed, they can print their pages, illustrate them, and create their books.

Students move the tiles into place to spell a word in “Word Strips.” – Students slide the strips up and down to create words from those shown on the tiles. Immediate reinforcement and score keeping included.

Students write a poem about a shape in “Shape Poems”. – After selecting a theme and a shape, the game guides the students to write in keywords then write a poem about the object they selected. Great for students of all ages.

Learn the parts of a letter and then create your own in Letter Generator – Students learn the parts of a letter then practice writing their own. The practice is very guided and ends with an option to print!!

Choose the correct verb to complete the sentence in 2Bee or Nottoobee. – Students help the bees find flowers by choosing the correct verb to complete the sentences. Immediate reinforcement will keep students interested.

Practice spelling and vocabulary with Word Bubbles – Word Bubbles gives students three beginning letters. They must type in words that begin with those letters in a race against the clock.

Identify the root word in “Rooting Out Words” – This interactive game lets students practice identifying the root words. Students can select various levels of difficulty.

Practicing homonyms with “Word Confusion.” – In Word Confusion, students help the rabbit make a salad as they select the correct word. Commonly confused homonyms are included in this game.

Practice spelling words on a wide variety of subjects with “Stay Afloat” – This online version of “hangman” called Stay Afloat lets students practice spelling words on a large variety of subjects. Some subjects include cells, history, dinosaurs, world cities, and countries.

Learn to make words plural with “The Plural Girls” – Two cats provide the interactive fun in this grammar game. Students help them get their friends out of the bubble machine by choosing the correct plural form of the given word. Various difficulty levels are provided.
