Kindergarten-K, First-1st Grade and Second-2nd Grade Smartboard Interactive Reading ELA Writing Games, Activities and Lessons

Teachers and students can use these Smartboard games, activities and lessons to learn about Reading ELA in Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade. Spelling Practice – Spell It! is a spelling game which is valuable for children who know their letters, know the sounds made by each letter, and are just beginning to learn how to put those letters together to make words. The words used in this game are spelled as they sound, which makes the game good for children who are not yet ready to deal with all the exceptions to the rules of the English language.

Learn Food Names – In “Cooking with Rosita” interactive characters provide practice in naming foods and counting in both English and Spanish.  This activity is great practice for learning Spanish or for ESL learners.

Sight Words – Practice identifying  engaging sight words on the Smartboard in this fun interactive activity. On the Smartboard click play to begin and then drop the words into a word bank at the bottom.

Letter and Sound Relationships – Use the Smartboard to play this fun letter and sound game! Select the letters and read the interactive book.

Match Uppercase and Lowercase Letters – Students match the kangaroo wearing the uppercase letter with the kangaroo wearing the corresponding lowercase letter. Then the pair hops on the ride together. Fun, interactive, and colorful!

Practice Alphabetizing Words on the Smartboard – Students will practice letter identification in this fun interactive game.  Select the appropriate level of difficulty to fit the student’s needs.

Letter Identification Smartboard Game – Students will practice letter identification in this fun interactive reading game.   Select the appropriate level of difficulty to fit your reading lesson!

Enhance Student Reading – Students read words on cards in this Smartboard lesson.  Then they can click to Make a Magician, Label the Magician, Magic Hat Trick, and Magic Shell Trick.

Beginning Sounds – Students will have interactive practice on beginning sounds using the Smartboard.  The game requires players to identify objects that begin with the letter shown. This is a great extension to your Smartboard lesson.

Rhyming Smartboard Game – Reggie the Rhyming Rhino helps students develop skills with rhyming words.   Student will identify words and build vocabulary with this activity.

Letter Recognition Activity  – Leo the Letter-Loving Lobster provides practice with letter recognition. The students choose the letter that matches the object.

Capitalization Activity and Lesson – Help the fairy capitalize the sentences! Click on each letter that should be capitalized.

Letter-Sounds Smartboard Activity and Lesson – This a fun, educational game that reinforces letters sounds by having players combine letters to form words for the pictures they see.  They heard the word read aloud.  Students can print and color a certificate at the end of each round.  Two levels of play provided.

Capitalization Rules and Activity – Students practice applying capitalization rules.  They help the fairy capitalize the words in sentences by clicking on them.

Real or Make Believe – Players hear a story then must decide if it is “real” or “make believe.”  Graphics, animation, and audio make this an excellent introduction to fact or fiction.

Antonyms Activity– Quest for Opposites – Students will enjoy helping the tooth fairy.  They click the wand on the antonyms.

Correct Sentence Order – Players practice sentence order in this Smartboard reading game.  By clicking the wooden planks in order, they build a bridge for the animals to cross.

Interactive Storybook – In this interactive reading activity students have the capability of reading as group and choosing the word they want to use to complete the story. This develops vocabulary and letter recognition.

Phonics Game – This Clifford Phonics Game asks students to select words that have the same middle sound while playing a concentration game. Great for phonics!
